I Was Surprised that a Facebook Friend Thought Charlie Kirk was Evil
One of the reasons I try to avoid Facebook is that people whom I have liked and respected will suddenly post something that makes me doubt their respectability.
One such person wrote something I thought to be complete nonsense, which was to proclaim that the late Charlie Kirk was evil. I responded:
I don't know where you get the idea that Kirk represented an ideology of hate and division. It appears that you have swallowed the mainstream media and Democrat party lies about him hook, line, and sinker. What Charlie Kirk advocated was salvation through Jesus Christ, and obedience to God's laws. In short, he was truthful in ways the left hated to hear. I've heard all too many other rational people report the same things you have just claimed, without examining the facts. Stephen King, the horror author, repeated at least one of the usual lies on X, a very bad thing that he claimed Kirk had said and believed, and upon finding out it was a lie, he actually apologized (surprisingly).
That thing that Steven King repeated in a since-deleted tweet was this: “He advocated stoning gays to death. Just sayin’.” This was a lie King saw on some social media source, and just swallowed it uncritically. When it was pointed out to him, he finally tweeted "I was wrong, and I apologize. I have deleted the post." All Charlie Kirk said about homosexuality was that it was against God's law. Which is a plain fact.
I have actually heard what Charlie Kirk has said in his visits to college campuses. I have never heard him say anything hateful. He said plenty of things that the Democrat party hates, though. The division that some claim comes from Charlie Kirk actually derives from the fact that his enemies constantly misquote, twist, or otherwise outright lie about what he had to say.
Maybe you should perform some due diligence and find out what he actually had to say. There are plenty of sources that report that information.
After I posted the above response to the Charlie Kirk accustion, this man "unfriended" me on Facebook. I then wrote the following, though I don't remember if I posted it on Facebook or not:
I've apparently just been unfriended by someone after I suggested that his beliefs concerning Charlie Kirk were incorrect and that he should broaden his sources of information. I guess I am disappointed. This person is intelligent, spiritual, and basically a good man. I'll say nothing further, except to offer a YouTube link posted by a gay black man who is a Charlie Kirk supporter. If you want to dispute this man's testimony, go to his channel and comment on his video -- or read the comments to be found there.
Here's an interesting video put out by a gay black man, Amir Odom, who knew Charlie Kirk personally. Listen to what he has to say about the man and what he advocated for. If you disagree with Amir, go to this guys YouTube video. Don't argue with me, argue with this guy, who actually and personally knew Charlie Kirk.
