Janet Marie Johnson (nee Hyde)

Janet Marie Johnson (nee Hyde) was one of my numerous first cousins, one of the few I have actually met. When I was young I lived briefly in her house with her parents, Buster and Eleanor (Raabe) Hyde and her brother, Jimmy, while my mother was ill, and after my mother passed away. I don't remember much about her, but the memory I do have of her was of a nice and playful little girl.

Obituary of Janet Marie Johnson (Hyde)

This appeared in the newspaper Crescenta Valley Weekly of La Crescenta, California

July 2, 1953 – Oct. 31, 2020

Janet Marie Johnson (Hyde), age 67, passed away on Oct. 31 in Winnetka, California. She was born in Long Beach on July 2, 1953 to parents Buster and Eleanor Hyde. She was raised in Paramount, California and attended Lincoln Elementary School, Alondra Junior High and Paramount High School. As a child, Janet was a “happy-go-lucky” girl and enjoyed ice skating, riding her bike and playing with cousins and friends in the neighborhood. In 1972, Janet married Gary Leroy Johnson, and her two daughters Krista and Kathy were born.

After she moved to Desert Hot Springs, Janet gave birth to her son John Stephen with John Stephen Wiener Sr. In the early 2000s, she moved to the La Crescenta area and lived near all three of her children. Those were some of her happiest years. She was a long-time employee at Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) and made many friends while there. She helped take care of all six of her grandchildren when they were young, and her kids and grandkids were her pride and joy.

Janet died suddenly of natural causes in her home with her partner Victor Cooper by her side. It brings her family comfort to know she did not die alone.

Janet is survived by her daughters Krista Gale (Johnson) and Kathy Barnett (Johnson) and their spouses; son John Stephen Wiener; grandchildren Emma, Megan, Anna and Aidan Gale; Robert and Ava Barnett; and brother James Hyde.

A celebration of life is planned on her birthday, July 2, 2021 with all invited. Details will be at https://everloved.com/life-of/janet-johnson-hyde/.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to ABC Recovery Center, 44374 Palm St., Indio, CA 92201.

Janet will be remembered for her outgoing, friendly personality and kind heart. She will be greatly missed.
